I have mixed feelings on trash burning, because it's awful for the planet (still not even a tiny fraction as awful as the pollution pumped into the air by big business, but that's a topic for another day)
but if you're poor, and hauling off junk costs obscene amounts of money because trash isn't treated as a socialized public utility.... folks will burn shit, folks will dump shit. I'm not saying it's right, but I'm saying I understand what's going on in their heads.
