i still really loved that one though, n now after watching edith finch theres more similarities between the two than what i originally thought

in the sense of curses? believing themselves to be cursed, yet (most likely?) causing it all themselves. in draugen w the (most likely?) accidental death of ruth which caused speculation that simon murdered her and people were just angry and upset with each other, and needed something to blame. and then if you read in the church books, most of the people died of "tæring" which is tuberculosis. so tuberculosis probably just spread in the very secluded village, killing the inhabitants, and the remaining blamed it on a "curse" because that was something that fit their narrative. although i believe there to never have been any curse. but i guess a lot of that game is up for speculation. 
this ties in w the curse the finch family, or more specifically edie, claims to be true. but a really clever yt comment pointed out that almost all the finch deaths were caused by themselves due to being careless. edie left holly berries in mollys room, which are poisonous, gregory drowns in the tub bc of his mother not paying attention to him in the bath, calvin falls off the swing because the swing is positioned super dangerously above the cliff where a swing shouldnt be etc etc etc. Literally every death is the result of bad decisions, not a "curse". 
just some interesting food for thought. now im going to bed ahahah
