I've always found that the process is just exhausting, tapering onto medications, adjusting to them, only to have some often not work, have to withdraw from them which is usually painful, and start all over with new ones.
Its definitely daunting, especially if you're having to work a job at the same time as adjusting to new meds.

but if you don't have to work, and have family and medical support, it's worth at least giving it an honest try.

driving a car is the most freeing and fun thing ever lol
I did however have a student once when I worked in a high school who hid her medications side effects and the fact they weren't working (seizure meds) because she didn't want to lose her drivers license, yikes
just track how you feel on them each day, there's a really cool app I have called Bearable that lets you track your meds, moods, food, physical symptoms, etc.
It can be helpful in finding out if the meds are right for you

i'ts maybe good that you take the meds and try to come around with going to bed earlier, because being able to drive in the future can turn up to be very important

I've also heard that there are genetic tests you can have done to see what medications are compatible with your body?
I am not sure if this is common practice or if it really works, but I know folks who have done it.

You might not get any of the side effects. And don't they have, like, alternative medication if these aren't suitable for you?? There are always people who're allergic / get bad side effects, so I'd say give them a try and consult your doctor if you happen to have issues

Gotcha lol
So do you only take it when you want to sleep or do you have to take it regularly at the same time each day

u have to take a dose when u lie down to sleep at night at around the same time and then another dose 2-4 hours later and u have to take it every day because if u suddenly stop taking it u might become psychotic

its the only medication that treats both cataplexy and sleepiness at the same time so i think if it doesnt work for me i might have to combine two different medications or just not take any
