I was on birth control and it completely messed up my body. Gained a ton of weight, lost my libido and overall just not having a great time. I stopped taking it in November and my body still isn't back to normal. Only had my period twice in the last 6 months yikes. I rly wouldn't recommend taking birth control pills :/ Ofc everybody reacts different to it but almost everyone I talked to had horrible experiences

i’m so scared to actually get into it after this comment.. like i’ve seen some friends with birth control and they’re like skinny and fine but i’m scared that if i take it, it’ll impact me a lot cause i tend to break out so easily.. but i never gain weight so i don’t know if metabolism has anything to do with the side effects which i’m only praying for cause i eat every hour and just never gain 1 pound at all :<
I think ?? The weight  gain u might get on birth control is cus of increased hunger, not sure tho but. Here u get a 3 month test period where u see if u still have side effects at the end of it tho (side effects usually go away after 3 months or sum) and they can switch u to different pills or a different kind of birth control if u have a issues w the one ur on. I would imagine pills being the best way to control irregular periods tho

u should talk to a doctor or whatever they are called probably... and nobody can know what will work for you really. it seems like the process is usually that a person tries different options until one works good enough. there are downsides to putting hormones in your body/putting in a copper IUD and you'll have to consider which option is the best from that i guess... sad to hear that your periods are causing you this much pain. i'm glad i can go by with just, a couple of pain killers per month.

Hm yeah allegedly its not v common but
"It's rare, but some women do gain a little bit of weight when they start taking birth control pills. It's often a temporary side effect that's due to fluid retention, not extra fat. A review of 44 studies showed no evidence that birth control pills caused weight gain in most women."

hmm idk if it's weight gain due to bigger apetite or that thing or something else but i know it would suck to have to count calories because your appetite is so much bigger when on the pill than when u werent. my friend gained like 10 kg from being on the pill for some years and it took her one year to get her body back as it was before that.... tricky stuff

Honestly, only your doctor can help because every body is going to react differently. Are you having any other symptoms with your painful and irregular periods? If they are really debilitating and medication doesn't help much you could have endometriosis or something like that. But again, not your doctor and I don't make diagnosis lol
yea have u gotten checked for endometriosis?

still taking it tho (y) cuz no period pain or acne or pms depression

i haven’t cause my mom just use “home remedies” to cure off the pain .-. whenever i ask to go see a doctor she just doesn’t listen and chooses her way to treat my pains and usually she pushes me to take midol just to shut up ab the pain.. most of the time tell me how she had cramps when there weren’t anything to treat when she was in her teenage years back in cuba so i just don’t really know what to do at this point but i told her abt it and she’ll call soon to make an appointment. i’m literally 20 too lol..
