alright so this might be a lot lol but:
ive been a hot fucking mess for just about my entire life about cleaning, as when i grew up it was always messy all around lmao. so when i moved out at 16 it was difficult to learn things my parents never really taught me, and bad mental health on top didnt really work to my benefit - long story short it was .. messy. i had like 3-4 times a year i deep cleaned, when manic, then i couldnt really do much other than light cleaning - dishes etc other times.
anyway, to the point ! ive been cleaning every week since i started meds in feb, and had to learn everything about how to keep things tidy. so i guess i have a few things i picked up that made a huge difference, and made things easier.
first things first, the whole deep clean to start. i know its kinda obvious, but make a list. not a "clean the bedroom, clean the bathroom" kind of list, but a detailed "collect trash from desk, move everything off and clean it, put things back where they should be".
it really helped me, cause then i had very specific instructions to myself. and i put in 10-20 minute breaks on the list, put on a timer and crossed things off as i went.
then, when i did that, i also made a list on things to do every week to make sure things didnt go overboard. dishes twice a week, laundry, dusting, that sort of stuff. 30 minutes, 2-3 times a week. i have google calender to remind me when its time to clean lmao.

i also made sure to invite people over from time to time, for an extra push. i cant stand people being in my apt while its dirty, so i never really had people over cause it meant 3 days of halfassed cleaning/putting everything in hidden spaces so no one saw it lol.
i like to watch cleaning vids on yt. it adds some motivation, and some of them are very supportive and nice to people who have trouble keeping things tidy. a lot of tips and tricks that were nice.

dont know if any of this helped or not, but thats what worked for me. and i also made a cleaning playlist with songs that made me feel like im a mildly slutty house mom in a music video cleaning in a very cute outfit.
or i just put on sims music and pretend im a sim. lol.

A good rule to live by is: if you can fix it in under a minute do it right now

Toss that piece of garbage in the bin, put the pair of scissors back to where it was, don't leave clothes lying around,...

Another important thing is to have a designated place for things and not too many stuff placed on surfaces
this!!! it also really helps me to have a drawer where i put clothes that i've worn only only once so i know they're still clean but i mean i wouldn't want to put them in my very clean clothes drawer. i also put my work clothes there
