I mean depending on what year of schooling it is, it's entirely likely that the professor didn't think they had to specify?
By a certain point that instruction should be redundant.
But yeah I definitely have had my fair share of professors pushing their mistakes and oversight onto the students lol

To save everyone future frustrations
citing your sources is always a given before hand, at least ethically if nothing else.

yeah ofc but thats well known for most written papers or written homeworks, never heard about citing anything for a one minute doodle (except for when it was directly referenced from a well known artist or similar)

I didn't study anything artsy like fashion, but it does kind of make sense that a visual assignment could be their version of "writing a paper" or whatever - and thus be subject to the same citation rules.

Just to clarify. Whenever I use someones work for inspiration I reference them. When I talk about someones work, I link their website.

The reason I didn't think I needed to do it this time was cause
1. The teacher didn't say anything
2. The teacher didn't do this in their examples
3. The doodles were assigned as a "warm up" and that "we should not spend to much time on it" (Even if just the drawing time took a bit over 8h)
4. Most of these sketches captures the outline and it's hard to see that the work is even referenced unless you know it

But yes, hindsight is 20/20 and you should always reference when you take inspiration

I mean if u don't really earn money with it n it's just for ur course to warm up I wouldn't have saved the references either :/
