It feels the same as when people claim they have did, while their "alters" are just celebrities/characters they like (honestly don't wanna go there but they call their kind alters) idfk, but its like people having normal emotions and thoughts (mild dissociating, liking characters, etc etc) and making it have a deeper meaning, like them suddenly being that person or being another species
