pricepoint and accessibility/selection for sure

my options where I live are pretty mediocre, so I would have to resort to online shopping - which I don't like, because it's stressfull to get the packages and the orders
I'd also put into accessibility the lack of information and all floating around and how it's really ifficult to keep updated on what is what, who does what and all that. kinda feels like there is no true good out there, everyone will turn out to be bad in some form or capacity someday

as for the pricepoint, I guess that's a more obvious one
many things do cost a bit more and it's not a price that's always reflected in usage or longevity

I mean, I started to buy more organic produced food. I started to buy produce that's from the country I live in or the neighbouring countries instead of the import from northern africa. But that truly does limit your options a lot. When it comes to stuff like clothing, I do buy fast fashion and then keep wearing it for 7-10 years because the clothes are still fine. I can't shop many sustainable brands because I don't have the options where I live and those that I have aren't actually sustainable, they're just up-priced fast-fashion claiming to be sustainable. Also, ordering clothes online is just a mess because I apparently have a weird body and many things don't fit me, so I would just be constantly sending back packages. And second hand shopping really isn't a thing in Germany like it's in other countries. You have few true second hand stores and more these vintage stores that sell you clothes from the 60s for 150€and up since they have to be all imported from somewhere else.

While I'm at it:

- any brands, in particular, you guys are wondering about are sustainable or not?

It's going to take a large while to pull all of this together so like if u want some fast ass answers, I guess yeah just ask or whatever

oh yeah, I have no trust in & other stories being actually as sustainable as everyone raves about considering they belong to H&M and at least during the beginning were selling a bunch of items in both stores (accessories and jewellry) which made it look truly fishy

on the flip side of things, I will just take note that this is lowkey being supported here
-- brands need to retail in physical stores

Anything that belongs to H&M, I'm personally just kicking out the door. H&M, take it as the single H&M front store, or any of their daughter brands. It literally cannot be sustainable on the basis of overproduction. Also, there's no basis to HM (the company) return programs actually working in any scale that matters. All of their daugher brands got me like, these are not different stores, these are store belonging to the same company with the same practices, just with different fronts. &Other stories gives me more natural, cottagecore vibes.  Monki is more like bright colors and funky. Regular h&m is like... basic stuff with a lil mix. Weekday is more streetwear. and so on.  different stores for different styles.

I think the new thing that fast fashion is doing now is "fast interior." which is like concerning since they can't even do one supply chain ethically or sustainably.

yeah, me too
I just did some research and found a bunch of articles about them that are dating from 2020 and they all say it's basic H&M greenwashing at it's best
what I just found funny was how when the brand started coming up, people were all in love about it, but you couldn't find much about them
then suddenly they made it publicly available they were a daughter company to H&M but doing so much better
but just like H&M it was claims and claims but evidence was either lacking or to the contrary
and now there is solid evidence to them just being an overpriced fast-fashion brand that entices people to just look at the label and thus think because it's expensive, it has to be sustainbale
it's utter bullshit, but people don't care
money can buy you a free conscience and that's what many like doing

oh, also a big issue for me (and that's not just when it comes to sustainability, but it's a whole fashion industry issue) is the lack of clothes I like
especially sustainable brands like to go for the oversized very neutral basic items that basically look like loungewear (and please no one comment about this, I wear fucking jeans as lounge wear, this for me is lounge wear, if it's meant to be comfy, it's loungewear, point) and I just don't enjoy that?
I like business looks, I like frilly clothes, I like the style that reminds you of girly spring - but good luck finding that anywhere else than every 4 years as a 2 week trend or on dropship sites like shein
it's just the worst
