Question for zoomers ('97-'12)

i'd agree with this from like the kids born around 2005-ish and later. but it also entirely depends on what they have access to. some of those kids have access to streaming content so there's the possibility they hear about shows that we watched and are able to go back and experience it themselves?

i think the original question here does actually cover a wide variety of potential participants. like it doesn't pinpoint into one geographic location or specific financial bracket , so in theory the answers from the individuals themselves from the selected generation will have a wide variety of responses based on those other factors of location, access to media, which half of the generation they are from (born in 97-2005 vs 2005-2012 to roughly divide it up). even family environment is another factor that can really alter the experience. as the youngest in the household, more of my influence comes from those i look up to. meanwhile maybe someone in a household with more young kids/teens might be surrounded more by the current interests of those age groups because they are the majority of that house that needs to be distracted/entertained.

Very good point, ones culture and upbringing really matters

Like my childhood friends who were raised in a government apartment without internet or cable and only watched tv via VHS tapes? Vastly different experience

Also my sister was very influenced by me, so i rubbed off on her a lot and turned her into an invader zim superfan so

I don’t think there’s one main point or influence anymore. Internet has become so diverse ppl look up whatever they want, ofc there can be major influences in a person’s life but i can’t think of mine hehe. As a younger kid I watched what was on barnkanalen and then i dug holes in the ground or smth, then i probably moved onto the internet?

Disney films and maybe Ghibli films could probably be a common ground for many, I didn’t watch that many as a kid tho

I'm from 1998, and would say I grew up on a lot of the same cartoons as my boyfriend has (he's from 1992) where most of it has been Cartoon Network stuff (Ed, Edd 'n Eddy, Billy and Mandy, Powerpuff girls, Johnny Bravo, Samurai Jack, Dexter's laboratory) and Disney movies.

I honestly also think there should be a split somewhere in gen Z, because I remember Windows 1992 and the time before flat screen TV, none of which my sister from 2009 knows of.
Tbf my sister grew up on Spongebob and Courage the cowardly dog because of streaming.

mostly family and friends, lots of situation comedy that came from living with youre whole extended family cramped together i 2 neighbouring houses lol, it was a recipe for disaster and very entertaining.
as for outside entertainment, i might as well have been born in the 50s-60s, i was reading my grandmas childhood favourites, listening to old tape records and only watched astrid lindgren movies good times.
i discovered youtube when i was like 13 so thats played a part too i guess, thats all i can think of

('99 here: )
i guess i got my sense of humor from the internet (tumblr and 4chan equivalents to be more precise)
I can't remember any tv show or cartoon that was actually funny to me? maybe like the teletubbies when I was like 2yo lmao
even though i only got access to the internet at 11yo because we were Poor as Shit
before that my biggest influence would've probably been my big brother whose humor is dark af and so is mine
