and yes, I'm 26 and I still don't think the whole "being an adult" thing when it comes to mental and emotional maturity is how it works
like, the only difference is that at certain ages, you expect someone to know better and not act upon their own inner stupidity and then call it "being a mature adult" completely negating the effect that some people never act on their stupidity and others keep on doing over and over until the day they die
it's just weird, like I'm certain most adults still feel just as stupid and frightened like when they were kids, they now just know they can't act upon it or show it. this societal understanding of hiding your own insecurities and gowing with the flow of the law doesn't happen when you turn 18 but whenever you're kind of emotionally ready for
