price is surely a reason why I use all free trials on audiobooks that I can think of, and read more e-books than before (I just downloaded the Ark app so I could have Unravel The Dawn for 30NOK lmao). I also check the library but since I read English expecting Norwegian libraries to have new releases is just a fool's mission. I know the day I want to read Graceling (NO: Katsa) by Kristin Cashore I can go grab it at the library bc it released in 2008, was popular for many years (still to a degree is), so the library got it. But do I want to read typ any of the books on my list that is releasing or released this year, they don't have them.

Can't you buy them on Bookdepository without trouble? That's my go to, when saxo decides to make their books very expensive sometimes.
I try not to use Amazon. And it's still as expensive tbh.
Amazon in Scandinavia is like not rly worth it yet because it’s the same prices and same shipping price usually, the exception is only if smth is only available through them rip

Yeah, like I only do a few books there if I want to pre-order since Adlibris don't offer that, or if typ 50 nok to and forth matters at that point. Buying anything at this point is like the battle between overall price, shipping, taxes, time and individual prices. Really get to use math every time.

I obvi use Amazon on my Kindle since I got it long before i rly knew what amazon was so I'm surely paying them well enough already

Yes, I have.
You have to log in on the library's webage with your lånenummer and reserve it. If they have it at other libraries in your area, but not in the one that's your local one, you can ask for it to be transferred to where you want to pick it up. It takes a few days and then you get a text that it is there. They normally have their own shelf for "orderd" books so you just go there and match the number on your text to the book(s). Check it out at the counter or self-check out as you would normally and then u r free to go.

That's at least how it works here.

Yeah I don’t really preorder so I guess that would factor in too, I know a lot of self published stuff is sold through there and through their publishing service too so that’s the one time I rly buy books through them

Yeah, amazon seems like the platform for most stuff. it has such a large reach so it's understandable. i don't rly pay attention to what is self-published or not tho since i just pick up books i think i'll like and now, mostly, i don't sorta get much influenced by other ppl bc i stopped watching bookish content online. but yeah, i grab stuff on amazon (kindle or bdp) if it is the best deal atm and depending on how much i wanna spend on a certain book. typ if there are books i wanna read that i don't know if i'll like, i'll probably get a digital copy, or if they come across as rly turbulent to read, i get it as audio.

But a nice thing though is that some ppl here in norway keep buying book boxes and they sell the books so if I rly want the special edition of that book I can get it secondhand : ) but yeah a lot of it goes against my "don't wanna own more than one copy of a book bc it doesn't add extra value to my life" sorta stance. typ feels like a waste of money even tho i keep drooling at editions i just know that if i get one unless it's like rlly limited edition, it will just make me unhappy lmaof

wow this post was a mess
