disabled people usually receive pity, they also get certain benefits and the social expectations of them are lower compared to that of an average joe with all 4 limbs capable of making a profit off in the name of capitalism
and for me i see the desire to alter ones body to fit the state of their ideal the same of mutilating ones genitalia or altering ones body as a trans person, mentality is kind of the same imo
