No, I have never quite believed in this. I think it is a bad habit. I see no use wasting money on books I do not read, nor do I have the money to consume like that, so I'm always picky about which books I choose to buy and that I genuinely want to read them, and make sure (to the best of my ability) that I actually read them. I don't think I have more than maybe 7-8 physical copies books out of my 200+ read books that I never finished in the last 5 years.
I have a hierarchy of buying books which includes different prices and formats, sales, and my taste for different seasons.
i personally have a few books i haven't read yet, but i intend to read them..
I have a few of them, and then I also have a Norwegian teen book about some supernatural thingies I literally cannot get myself to read. I wanted to support norwegian authors but yeah, that one was a no thank you for me. Most of my older unread books or typ books that the fam has aged out of were donated to a local school so they were used in English lectures there.
