yeah, but sometimes you don't need to call a person but aplace and you don't know if the person you'll have to call if there is no landline is actually at the place?
like last time my brother needed something from his room and he called home to ask someone of us to get it and wait outside so he could just drive by instead of having to get out, undress his shoes, go up the stairs to get it and drive off again
and he just called the landline, because if someone was home, they could do it and if no one was, then he had to do it himself either way
if we didn't have a landline, he'd have had to call either of my parents or me and neither my mum nor I were at home, so even if he called us on our cell, we wouldn't have been able to say if my dad was hoem or not. he'd have had to call the whole roster and hope he calls the right person first
