Same, I have to finish the 4 (?) Books I have started, but I have been planning to read (and already own) schrödingers cat trilogy by robert anton wilson, the illuminatus trilogy by robert anton wilson and robert shea, sofies verden by jostein gaarder, thinner by stephen king, the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy (all books) by douglas adams, noise by daniel kahneman and two other ppl, schizo by nic sheff, the neverending story by michael ende, american psycho, parasite by mira grant. Too overwhelming, I even have some books I want to read that are still at my dads house that I didn't bring but

all the recommendations I've been getting lately have been ass. the past few books I completed left me feeling like I just wasted my time. I don't even remember the name of the last book I read, because I was so disappointed by the end of it, the surge of negative emotion wiped it from my memory. it was presented to me as "the most gruesome and disgusting story I've ever read. it made me sick to my stomach. it was hard to read" and when I looked it up online, I saw many people felt the same, so I was interested to see what all the fuss was about. not worth it 👎 big flop. & I'm really sensitive, a big baby that can't handle disturbing content, so the fact that I was just like "that's it?" after reading it should be proof enough of how weak it is. at this point, I'm inclined to believe any book that has high ratings and causing a commotion online is not really worth reading. also, I re-read "No Longer Human" because I forgot I already read it a long time ago, so that was a different type of disappointment; not a bad book. I currently have 16 books left on my to-read list, so I'm hoping at least one of em will be good.

I'm currently reading The Overstory by Richard Powers (have been at it for a month now) and just started Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries as well.

The Overstory is a very good book, and the latest chapter I read of it was a very good experience. Unfortunately the book is rather heavy to get through and while the writing is beautiful it doesn't have a coherent story or mystery to keep me focused for more than a chapter, which is the reason for the slow reading.

I'm only 2% through Emily Wilde (not even one chapter) and rn I'm just hopeful. I love the dog and I'm getting cottagecore vibes, so if the weather turns better the next few days I'll probably go out in the forest to read it.

I do, however, have a library visit planned today, and I'm getting the next book in the Murderbot series, and I'll probably devour that one tonight because I absolutely love the series.

Yesterday I finished Age of Myth by Sullivan, and I enjoyed it surprisingly much by the end of it, so I'm very excited to dig further into the 10 book series.

I also finished Nevada by Imogen Binnie, which was an interesting read, though not quite a genre I usually pick up. I just realized how little trans representation I've seen in the books I read, so I just decided I needed to do something about that and picked up this book.

I'm currently reading three books.

Being and Being Bought: Prostitution, surrogacy and the split self by Kajsa Ekis Ekman (I'm reading it in it's original language, Swedish)

Our Bodies, Their Battlefield: What War Does to Women by Christina Lamb (the most gut-wrenching book I've ever read)

The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper by Hallie Rubenhold

ahhh I loved this one: a court of thornes and roses. Im reading the 4th book and I must say that the first one isnt the best one. It just gets more interesting from the 2nd one, so even if at the beginning you find it a little slow or boring, just keep reading, its worth it.
