Basically at the end of the day, if we ever finally reach equality, gender or sex won't fucking matter at all.
But gender is IMPORTANT for people! It's VERY important for me!! For me, gender is about expression, a point of view,,,, or like,,,, an aura(idk how to explain ehhe)
it's not

sorry
Maybe not for you, but it is for many people and that needs to be respected.

I mean.. Why would you want to identify as a woman when men rule the world?? That is my number one thought from this

If I identify as a man, do I get manly benefits? Because if so, I'm a man now.

it's not about what you want to identify as, it's what you feel
for example i feel that i am a woman and i identify as a woman, but that doesn't mean that i enjoy the gender norms in today's society

A woman is a person born with a vagina, and that's it. It's not a personality, it's not an emotion, it's not a hobby - it's a biological fact. Denying that is way more harmful than refusing to validate three billion genders. In order to reach equality, we need to abolish gender roles, not enforce them by saying people that don't feel comfortable with being women due to society aren't women.

Sex is like skin color - it's strictly bilogical and unfortunately can come with major disadvantages.
except....it's not as simple as a biological fact. there are many variations on what a woman can be (if we are discussing the biology of the term 'female') that can occur in her chromosomes, her sexual presentation, and her general presentation.

nobody is trying to validate multiple genders. we are literally only talking about the identity of a woman.

also, i'm glad you brought up race. because race is another social construct--what we perceive is just genetic variation, but we have assigned labels and '''value''' to certain skin colours. racial discrimination is not based in science, just like sexism isn't based in science.
sexism is not based in science, but the two sexes has distinct and different brains?
your neurons rewiring in response to socialisation and how you perceive yourself in society is not based in physical science, it is a result of social forces and pressures. it has a tangible impact on your brain (as everything social does), but it is not something you are born with.

also, i don't agree with the idea of a 'male' and 'female' brain in terms of tasks. i believe that as a result of socialisation, men and women tend to have different thought patterns, different responses to social stimuli, and different emotional landscapes.

@Rosa thank you so much you're an angel! going through all of this is a bit frustrating, but i just hope that posting and sharing will at least change the mind of a person or two. i was reading your posts before i came and they were very well written, i appreciate you standing up for girls like me. <3

@ad0xa there are only so many posts i can reply to at a time. if you would like to have an in depth exchange of ideas, please feel free to post your opinions and we can go from there. each post i have made in this thread has been descriptive of my stance; if you would rather take one post and attempt to refute it then by all means. it is not my intention to ignore anybody, there are just several messages appearing for every one reply that i post.
Tbh don't you strike me as a person I wanna have a in depth discussion with bc you seem confused about the topic and very colored by your own experiences. Also bringing up fact you don't even know that much about.... I'm sorry. If I felt like you would actually listen to me and bring something to the table except frustration I would probably go for it!

literally this. that's what i hope some people will take from this thread.

no transgender person CHOOSES to be transgender. it comes as a result of a myriad of factors. most trans people will never outwardly identify themselves as transgender, because being transgender sucks!

additionally, when i came to terms with the fact i was a woman and began presenting myself as such, i began to assume the same role in society. along with all of the baggage that every woman faces as she goes through her day--rape culture, being dismissed as less intelligent, being violated in multiple ways; nobody wants to experience these things.

that's why we have to work together to make the world better for women everywhere. because we are all in this fight together, and we share similar pain as a result of our oppression.

alright, i had fun but i'm not gonna spend a whole day on this subject again, thank you to everyone who humored me and didn't resort to personally attacking me when i asked for clarifications on your viewpoints. i'm not sure that i am closer to understanding some of you but i hope that by having this discussion others who are maybe lurking were able to learn something new.

not really sure what you're talking about. i am not confused about this topic at all, i have done extensive reading on this very same subject (ie how i arrived at my definition of what a woman is). i have not said i don't know much about anything is this thread, either.

i have read every response here, and i have responded in turn to them by dissecting their arguments and putting forth my own. that's how a debate works. we present counter arguments and continue discussing until we reach a synthesis of our opinions. if you have no interest in reading my replies, then i suppose we've reached an impasse. i hope that you will be accepting of all women in your day to day life.

I hope you are too.

And my point is proven.

questions coming through

Can I just be me? Can I be who I want to be? Can I at least try to find myself? Who I feel that I am? Should people give me permission to express myself? Without being degraded, without people assuming things bout me? Can I feel that gender is an important thing in my life? Can I feel that it's THE most important thing in my life? It's the most important thing that has ever appeared here, for me. I want to be a free soul, and I guess that forcing myself into these types of discussions with some people who isn't quiiiiite getting it's importance isn't helping me at all.

I just want to puzzle my pieces together, and the people who already have THEIR finished pieces with different motives on maybe can't help me. Maybe some of them were already finished by someone else at the beginning.
