I love Jodie in other stuff but the clips of Doctor Who I've seen really aren't my jam. It felt like a forced imitation of Tennant/Smith but that's just me. Yeah, I've heard massively that the plot is abysmal, which is a shame. Like the show has had questionable episodes before (Peter Kay as the globby dude... just ... no. gives me nightmares) but these are just more shit than questionable from what I've heard.
My parents personally really didn't like him and I didn't when I was a kid either. He just seemed really miserable. For me, it wasn't until I went back and rewatched them and understood his humour and demeanor more that I loved him.
From what I remember, the show didn't gain real traction until David Tennant's doctor - hence why he was the longest running Doctor. A lot of people's nowadays say that Eccleston was before his time.
Yup, it's always weird for me hearing people from other countries talking about Doctor Who. For years, it was just a British thing and then I started seeing it more and more online and the UK was just like? whuuuutt?? xD

huh weird he is a fantastic actor and had so many fantastic episodes
jodie is a fantastic actor too but chibs is a dreadful doctor who writer, i'm so sorry for her because she us gives breathtaking acting but the episode is still bad because the plot makes no sense but in a really bad way
wasn't like nine the queen's favorite doctor and the show was a succes because people liked his performance?
idk it's weird how different things seem from different fandom perspectives
it may have changed since but I remember in the UK the show took a BIG hit with Capaldi and then Jodie too, it's not what it used to be a few years ago here. If you mention it most people go, "I haven't watched since Matt Smith but I used to love it." Quinzelle wrote:
Yeah, a lot of people don't like Clara which is weird. I haven't actually finished all the series (I've seen on and off of Matt Smith & Capaldi - and 0 of the newest Doctor which I'm happy about. Like yay for a female doctor but, I just really don't think the actress was the right choice), so I don't know but I always thought people liked her too.
I adore David. Really don't like Matt Smith but I am gonna watch his series fully, largely for the overarching story as it's my boyfriend's favourite plot line.
Me and my boyfriend are ostracised either way because we both really like Christopher Eccleston whereas most people really hate him cause they thought he was miserable xD

idc that much for david tbh but i prefer him over matt smith
in the UK, he flopped. A lot of people didn't like him and weirdly, a lot of the OG Doctor Who people reeeally didn't like him. huh, i have been living in a bubble, everyone adores him, he was fantastic, same as jenna (the clara hate i noticed tho, like wtf did she do wrong???)
