kpop had a lot of disco revival songs this year - Gfriend's Mago, TXT's Blue Hour, Sunmi's 2020 song (whose name I can never type lol), JYP's When We Disco are a few

i feel like u will find lots of western artists doing disco inspired songs but u wont find many on the hitlists, seems more like its a matter of whats trending and not

people use kpop just to mean all popular korean music. Disco is closely related to pop and the two genres can converge. it's not exclusively one or the other. as you can see in the billboard article referencing Dua Lipa, Lady gaga etc (all part of the disco revival, all pop music, all did well) the 'disco revival' is a phrase more than anything encompassing music released now that has a 'retro' or 'vintage' vibe (specifically 70s/80s)
