If I applied for a job at MGA when I worked for mattel I also would have been fired this is pretty standard lmao I know the Dutch server has a younger user base than us but most adults know this is how paid jobs go. You don’t apply to work for a competitor and get to keep ur job. Simple as.
this isnt standard in the netherlands?????????????? so idk what you are saying.  you are allowed to be applying for another jobs and when you get the job, you will have a month notice.

"clown action" an admin designing for the competition is good enough of a reason
She was getting paid here, and wanted to get paid there as well, when the 2 sites are competitors.
She will still get paid for this month from what he said and that's it

The only shitty thing here will be if the site will be shutting down, considering the effort and money people put into it, but people are not paying enough to keep the thing afloat, compared to the DE and EN servers
And Etjan said already that he contacted devs to see if there's a possibility to merge servers so people won't lose their stuff but the site is just built on a mishmash of old and shitty code so that it is not possible.

Besides that he did express that he does not want to close it down and seems to be seriously thinking about it, everything here seems and sounds very reasonable from a calm and professional perspective

I mean she IS getting paid for this month and it is only the beginning of it so it is kind of like a month's notice

I applaud your patience talking to brick and mortar, though to be fair, my walls never reply to me, so no wonder I don't have tha patience for it

honestly, I understand that the dutch users are furious, but also ... maybe not the right way to go at it?
but most of all I love the "I don't want to pay for something; if others have to pay for it, then it's just poor leadership and I shouldn't be made responsible for refusing to pay for what I use, because cearly it is my given right to not have to pay for things and expect others to cover my costs as well".
I mean, come on, with that attitude, the server wouldn't survive the end of this year either way, so why is anyone of the dutch surprised this process may now get sped up? I hope it doesn't because that would just suck for all the achievements people had, and yet ... this was kinda the deal when signing up to VP? like ... can we really be mad if parts of the game have to close down because they aren't doing well enough financially and some parts of the userbase refuse to take responsibility for this? (which we kinda have to, considering we have to pay for upkeep if we want to play. this is pure maths ... people being so damn spoiled with paying without noticing it that they think stuff online is genuinely free...)

koreaboo,  there seems to be a lot of misunderstood info and 'jumping to conclusions'.
As others have mentioned already... when you work for any corporation (including in the Netherlands because I have worked there as well) and you have certain responsibilities, then that company will not allow you to do jobs for the competitor (even if it is in your spare time). That results in immediate termination, and you are asked to pack up that same day... you can even be escorted out by security at times....  Depending on the agreement you have in place, you might still get paid for your notice period, but the company is not obligated to let you continue to work there during that notice period. End of last year, she designed for the competitor. I told her that she had to choose... either to be an Admin (and she was also designing for VP) OR design for the competitor... but she cannot do both. When, a few days ago, I found out she was still designing and applied to become JD, I terminated our agreement.
I have always said that I will pay the money she is owed for that notice period, but an Admin who has done jobs for the competitor and has also applied there for a position cannon keep working for VP.

✅ this

If VP would get closed (all servers) I would be VERY sad since I love VP and its kinda my "home" or smh (we don't need to talk about that this is kinda sad and not very healthy lol)
But, I could totally understand. I try to spend a lot of money (I'm from switzerland but we have no money trees at all) for supporting VP. But I could never do that alone. So, people need to pay for it or we need to live with the fact that VP could get closed soon. It is how it is, I just keep hoping the best for VP ❤

+ I would never regret putting money into VP, if you do or you worried you could regret it - don't do it. I do it bc I love VP, the people and everything, but don't do it just bc you feel like you HAVE to do it. (With "you" I mean everyone, not Masilein alone)

Sry, my english is not good, but I hope its understandable xD

but this wasn't their agreement, she couldnt work for it, if Wishbone really was accepted as JD, she would've said it and handed in her notice.

I have 2 reasons for that really
reason number 1 being that I remember that language barriers, even when the 2 sides have some fluency in a common language, can create misunderstandings, therefore we should be patient when we can and the explanation can be the thing that fixes the misunderstanding
sometimes it works
sometimes it doesn't

other thing is that people really do not understand how servers work, server costs are, and how normal laws of resigning and being fired works

besides that I agree 100% with all the rest that you've said, couldn't have said it better

You ARE right, but you can't expect people to pay if they don't want to and you can't expect people to pay when there are no visible updates or no specific communication regarding updates.

I know the maths, I am not expecting other ones to pay for me so I don't have to pay. I myself am just okay with VP going down if I won't pay.

one month's notice doesn't give you the right to keep your privileges in the work place you're quitting. It just gives you the right for the pay for that month's work. This is very common.

Applying for work somewhere might not be working for them, but it can still be against the agreement of the contract.

I understand it tho and I see how the process works lol. The most of the Dutch users just don't want to spend money on a website if they don't get anything in return while that is promised.
