i just keep scrolling through that website, reading up on the products and then suddenly way more time than i anticipated has passed
i should dedicate like the entire summer to do all the research and try out products, cause even though i've been trying to make certain swaps already, this is all so overwhelming. Like not because of the plastic free thing, that's easy enough, but what ingredients do i need in my shampoo or face wash? i have no idea. And like, i wasn't even aware of the effect sulfates and sulfate production had on the environment. I have so much to learn
Mood. I've just spent 2-3 hours just today, and I need to go make lunch or dinner soon, lmao. I'm practically done deciding what to get today, so that's at least something.
Shampoo bars are totally an individual experience so even if it isn't marketed towards your hair type it may work better on your hair or not. What you should google are the main ingredients and just google e.g. "x oil effect on hair" or "oats, effect on hair," and so on and the compare it towards what your hair need and how you want it too look (dry, shiny, dandruff, normal and so on). It takes a short forever if you want to go beyond the descriptions. If the page has bad descriptions you can just google the bar and find the OG brand and read what they have to say about it.
I have thin, dry hair so for Lush I normally use their "Godiva," "dirty" or "monteblanco." Monteblanco is more drying than Godiva, which is a 2-in-1 (balsam and shampoo) and has a lot more of butters in it, so it has more hydration than monteblanco that only is a shampoo. So I totally do suggest having a balsam when u get a bar too. but yeah Lush does use sulfates so they "tilpassingsprosessen" to it from regular shampoo is fine (imo). Sulfate-free is a different experience as it greases your hair much easier bc it doesn't have that sulfate as a cleaning agent. that's why i have struggled with it since i have so fine hair everything shows and it's easy to get oil\butter residue, and yeah.. longer tilpassningsprosess.
ah yeah, googling each ingredient individually sounds smart! though there might be some combinations of ingredients that work / doesn't work as well, i suspect, even if each ingredient themselves are good.. but yeah, as you said, hair and skincare products are very individual, depending on hair type etc., so i guess once i've narrowed it down to a few options with a nice looking ingredient list, i'll just have to try them all out to see what works best. i was also scared there wouldn't be any plastic free purple shampoos, but apparently there are, so that's good
