non-binary is an umbrella term! being nonbinary is different for everyone
agender and genderqueer are different examples of genders that belong in the non-binary term

Okay someone please correct me if im wrong, but this is my understanding
non-binary is as rosa just said an umbrella term, but also means that u don't identify with a gender.
where agender is more concrete that u don't have a gender (genderless)

Me googling cis as a big questionmark. I always hear it in bad context, but now im a bit confused why.
it's basically just means that someones gender identity matches their sex assigned at birth .. there's no reason to think it's a negative word really

but transphobic ppl often hate on it bc they think it's something trans people came up with
and trans people often use it to address issues being trans in a cisnormative society

but like if u r cis u r cis that's just how it is.. it's just a term
i guess it is also used in a negative way in a generalising and jokingly manner in some circles, just like "hetero" and "male" is, since it's a privilege to be either of those and it might be argued that privileged people have... some less great qualities sometimes (in general)? i mean that's a way that i've seen cis being used in a negative way is all i'm saying
i'm not particularly aiming this towards you, bc i got the impression that you actually know all this, this is just in general

i mean all kinds of privileges is often used discussing a problem .. and jokes centered towards this
like hating on "white cishet men" because they're the most privileged people is very common.. this ofc doesn't mean that "all white cishet men are bad", but that there are a problem in general with a group of people that match this description that is a problem - for example in LGBTQ+ issues, sexism, racism and so on. it's also common to say "white people" addressing racism, and ofc that doesn't mean all white people r racist. and i think it's the same addressing "cis people"

i hope i worded myself alright ahah

yeah i agree too, i know intersex isn't directly linked to gender but it can be and i mostly just wanted to include it because of the different ways of anatomy
idk if that makes sense
yes and no
as you can't just identify as an intersex person if biologically you aren't intersex
I mean yeah, it's a medical condition, not a gender.
right, I mean some of the people that are intersex will identify with this medical term as well
it's their sex
but yeah I don't think this one is fit to be a gender

Ok yeah i think im starting to understand it. Like non binary ppl are just like “i dont feel like im either a woman or a man so i guess im something in between” while agender is more like “i literally feel like i dont have a gender at all i see myself as genderless”, am i understanding it right? I mean it does make sense

that's somewhat my understanding at least, but don't quote me on it. Someone might have a more correct answer LMAO!

Also just a quick sidenote, respect to all of u that identify as any of these “abstract/alternative” genders outside of just male/female and have to deal with ppl constantly telling u that u have to be either a man or a woman like u do u babes dont let ppl tell u how to feel

nonbinary includes literally everything that isn't solidly "woman" or "man" cuz those are the binary

genderqueer is a little vague but here's how i see it, ppl identifying w the genderqueer label might have different ideas abt it
it's similar to "queer" but specific to gender so it could be seen as a vague umbrella term like nonbinary or it's own thing completely (like some people dont want to pick many labels or specify and just call themselves queer) : D
