of course /b/ was never good. i'm like actually afraid to click on /b/ again nowadays. i did check out /pol/ after the election to see them COPE but it was mostly being brigaded and they were getting clowned on hardcore it was kind of a riot.

2006 was when i had the most fun on fourchan cause thats when Haruhi was coming out and everyone was watching it. and this was before anime got simulcast we had to wait a day to download it and then wait a couple more days for subtitles to be made by some fans. like there was no cruncyrolls back then you torrented this shit and then downloaded the subtitles separately and you needed specific programs to run the files. being a young weeb back then on /a/ was so much fun. people would post wholeass manga one page at a time and everyone would read it together. all kind of manga too. thats when i found junji ito and hes still literally my favorite mangaka.

but the other thing is its disengenous to pretend that fourchan is the only place online that bullies people hardcore the way that chris chan got it. that shit happens on twitter and youtube and reddit and everywhere online even VP people have been MAJORLY harassed on here in ways we shouldnt discuss to not like out anyone things have been real chill lately.

2ch doesnt have nationalist origins- nationalists ended up gathering there. you've got it backwards. first comes the anonymous space- then come the nationalists same as how happened on 4chan.

I think that's why I dont like anonymous imageboard culture in general. Obviously toxic circles exist on all facets of the internet... never denied reddit is problematic.... just seems like the trolling and bigoted shit is even worse on those sites cuz ppl feel more safe and anonymous, so it's in even fuller force or at least more blatant I guess

But what you said about it being one of the only places to watch anime and read manga at the time makes sense, I was spoiled and had crunchy roll when I was 13
