We usually celebrate with dinner. It used to be 24th just us (my parents, brothers and me) and then on the 25th we'd invite the extendes family (aunt, uncle, two cousins, grandma).
But this year, we're still trying to figure it out.
The original plan was to make a digital christmas (I'm 680km away from home in a different country right now), but my brother actually offered to come get me with his car. So he'll be driving for about 9-11 hours to get to me, he'll then sleep here for 6 hours or so and then we'll drive back home. I'd self-isolate before the trip, get tested at home, stay for 2 weeks and then he'll drive me back, where I then have to stay in quarantine and get tested again. Bit unsure of the last part, it's all very difficult and they don't explain it all fully? Like, somehow I don't need to quarantine or get tested, because I'm visiting first degree family, but then I have to because I change countries. Which, don't even get me started on how fucking stupid it is to think that first degree family can't infect you with Covid... My brother offered this yesterday and I cried for 5 minutes, my mom thought something terrible had happened for me to have such a breakdown. Tomorrow I will call the authorities to ask how exactly I have to get around doing this and hopefully I'll be able to see my family at least once irl this year.
Also, this year will be just my parents, my brothers and I for christmas and we'll drop off the christmas parents to the extended family sometime before christmas.
