my mom was very adamant about us not wearing stuff with crosses and skulls when we were smaller (especially my brothers) because she always said: if you don't know what it stands for and who uses it as a marking point, you shouldn't be wearing it. got me to be rather careful about some logos. also, she was very much condoning my aunt for letting my cousin wear shirts with the playboy logo on it when she was 12)
my mum found my goth phase rather disturbing and hated the skulls but I stand by them.

When you mention skulls, my mom and aunt used to dislike those when my sister and I was young. They kept on saying it was too early after all the deaths during ww2, and that it could be disturbing for the people that survived.

that's ... I mean, you're not 60, are you? :d
I think my mom was against the skulls because of the many biker gangs with right-wing ideaology that got more active around the time that the skull craze was going on
but she was ok with it, if it was very obviously a pirate skull
gosh I remember the Ed Hardy craze and everyone had bejewelled skulls on everything and we weren't allowed to

tbh, skulls are cool
if it were allowed, I would totally have skulls or even mummified body parts to collect
but alas, law isn't fond of my aesthetic

I personally don't care. I believe in spirituality rather than religion, but I still sometimes wear a cross necklace my grandfather gave me in order to honor him and his spirit, since it's the only thing i have from him, and he was a strong believer of christianity

idc, but i guess it also depends on what is it, like I feel like wearing a cross isn't offensive, cus a lot of the people that do that without believing in christianity, still celebrates a lot of the traditions correlated to that belief. if i knew it something was offensive or someone told me of that beliefs was offensive to them to wear a certain symbol, I wouldn't wear it, what would the reason be?? but other people can do whatever they want, it's none of my buisnness what they wear

but also wearing a cross without believing in it, isn't up to me whether or not it's offensive, as i'm not christian

I had a deer skull and a fox skull and several bird skulls and bones from chickens and pigs but I buried them in the forest last summer because I kinda had a bad feeling about them, most were found in the same forest anyway.

I think it is legal to own a human skull in Germany, idk about borders tho.

omg, I remember back when wearing a rosary was all the hype for some people and most didn't even know what a rosary was for :d
THAT imo is more offensive than just wearing a cross
but I feel like wearing a cross when not being a christian is about the same as wearing those palm symbols (me not knowing the names of them and showing how ignorant I am) when you're not part of that religion (not sure and I don't want to say it wrong, so me not naming anything here, you know what I mean)
