the thing that worked best for me was to start cutting my nails often. i had to keep my nails short for work, so i had to cut them constantly. when i went on a month long break suddenly my nails got super long and i just didnt realise i had stopped bitting my nails. but then i went under a very stressfull period and im back to the habit

Lol yeah it doesn't hurt or anything n I don't like bite it raw but yeah they become shorter after a while, they grew out normally last time tho so probably they will this time too
