I usually buy cheap standard stuff from crazy factory (never had any problems, but I only buy the stuff that isn't coated or plastic) and very nice things on etsy and sometimes local shops who sell silver jewelry.
Yeah, I've seen a lot of cool shit on etsy, the problem is shipping is often hella expensive, sometimes more than the thing itself. Eg. the first one is around 100 shekels and has free shipping but the second one is around 60 shekels and has around 50 shekel shipping. In this case it's probably worth it for me since it's a beautiful piece and it's surgical steel and I'm kind of scared of silver.
My stapler is made of surgical steel,
You're looking for implant grade materials.
Implant grade metals are the only thing appropriate for long term wear.
From what I understand surgical steel can be implant grade but correct me if I'm wrong, I really don't know enough about this. I've had my ears pierced for almost a decade so at this point I don't really care what I put in them and when I had my nose ring I never changed it.

Right? I love it but I don't love the little gems it has, hopefully if I ask for them to be removed they can do it.
yes true

ngl i'd love to get a medusa piercing, i don't think it looks that bad on me👀 same with septums, but that ain't gonna happen because i'm way too scared lmao
I dunno, medusa's aren't my favourite but I guess I get why people like them?
Are you scared of the pain or it getting infected or what?

I mean, people have worn gold and silver for decades without problems, it's a piercing not a hip replacement?
I work in this industry, for us it's the best or nothing.
Subpar is unacceptable.
To assume you can wear something subpar in your body and nothing bad will happen, that's your choice.
A choice I made for years until changing my jewelry and realizing I spent years in discomfort and pain because of a piece of metal.
When you own high quality jewelry you will 100% feel the difference.

No It cannot be.
There are implant grade steel and implant grade titanium but it will always have implant or ASTM will be in front of it.
There are so many qualities of metaland most are not suitable for long term wear.

Just as some wood is toxic and cannot be made into plugs for large stretched lobes, same thing for metal materials as well.

But many do not understand this.
There is a medical and non medical grade of everything.
And if it's going to be living in your body you want the most medically safe option, right?

Okay from what I read 316L (which is the type of surgical steel the bee is) is implant grade, so I think I'm good with that. As for the other one, it's silver which scared me but I could just wear it in my ear. I'd love to know what you (Kieren) as a professional think about silver though.

Wait so can it or can it not?

I haven't felt any different before and after I got any of my piercings, but maybe others are more sensitive/their immune system reacts to certain materials differently. As far as I understand chemically, gold and silver (and the tiny amounts of other metals) are not reactive with your body if you don't have any  allergies,  but I'm no piercer so I don't have to make any of those decisions for other people.

As long as it's really silver 100% silver, problem is my old jeweler and most jewelers either add nickle(severe allergies are normal with nickle) or copper for filler.

The copper filler has been fine for me for a hand rings but I wouldn't trust it for body jewelry as that goes through my body.

There are different grades of 316L
You'd be looking for astm-316L
If it doesn't have that in front of it, it's regular steel.
Low quality brands like body Candy try to lie about stuff like that.
There's a reason it goes against my shops policy's to insert it.

There's usually a standard gauge size for most piercings, by the length or diameter will be custom to your body.
I would get a piercers help and write down the size for the future.:)
