I think the hyper-masculine nature of survival/homestead culture makes it super aggressive and unwelcoming and borderline scary. That being said I don't think cutting men out of the picture is really the best solution, but masculinity absolutely lol

sorry im not understanding how the concept of women living among other women for the sake of looking out for eachother and themselves in ways they see fit is hypermasculine aggressive or scary ?

you don't understand it because that's not what I was saying in any way shape, or form & the point flew way over your head.

do we actually like the idea of a women-only commune
or is the culture surrounding survival skills/homesteading so aggressively masculine, that we feel the only way to avoid that vibe is to start a commune of women - which in a sense is pretty narrow thinking, when challenging that culture in itself is far more valuable.

then again I also think going off and starting a commune as a way to escape a shit society and leaving the shitshow for those left behind to cope with is also its own kind of icky individualism, just individual in the sense of "I'm just gonna take my people and go"

idk I have been having a lot of very complex thoughts on this topic specifically lately, challenging myself to stop seeing things I've always wanted (commune life, homesteading, etc) with rose colored glasses and acknowledge it for the escapism it is.

i like the idea of living and interacting with women as much as possible and i dont acc need to justify that. i could as i have many thoughts too but it would take forever. one i would like to share is its so ridiculous how anything women do for themselves in response to a world built for men is always seen as selfish in some way shape or form. not a fan of u comparing a tiny shred of true autonomy some women have to individualism when they most likely went through heinous things themselves to come to that conclusion so idk how it equates to leaving anyone behind and idk how u can deduce feminist efforts from where a woman lives and who with. also interesting u describe it as escapism, yh maybe so but then wheres the critique on the ultimately regressive escapist nature of liberal feminism so many young girls and women are getting sucked into as we speak? dunno its just so bloody strange to me all the mental gymnastics ppl do to essentially say female solidarity in a small setting = bad... like... HOW. also why do u assume women cant live their chosen lifestyle and intellectually dissect culture at the same time jw? and is the latter really more valuable when men as a class cant be reformed & by the time a woman fully awakens to that shes probably already in a female only commune (not my situation unfortunately....................)
