I have always had a lot of pride in not doing drugs, smoking or drinking so even if its stupid to you, its just different morals. You don’t have to call me stupid for that?
There is no real reason to take pride in it because it kind of half implores that one shouldn’t be proud of it if one has done those things

anyways again I’m saying I used to have your mindset, even the pride thing to an extent, and I’m glad I got over it because in hindsight yes, it was stupid. If you don’t want to do those things because of health reasons do it for that, not for a sense of pride or made up idea of alcohol/drug virginity
Why would you be proud of drinking ?
Why would you be proud of not drinking (unless you’ve already had an issue with it)

Or honestly more specifically: never having had a sip. That’s my main point here.

im leaning towards no. I feel like i would regret it and feel so ashamed but its so tempting
obciously alcohol does something for people since its so popular. It does make me feel left out but since when is the majority always in the right??

What if i regret it?? Or become an alcoholic??
I really doubt that you’d become an alcoholic just by tasting alcohol. If you’re easily addicted to consumable stuff and start regularly drinking when you feel really bad to feel better then its a possibility. But becoming an alcoholic takes years and a lot of self destructive behavior my friend.

My personal experience with alcohol is that i only drink because i think it tastes nice or fits the occasion. I never drink to get drunk. I feel like a lot of young people think that thats the only reason you drink when it really doesn’t have to be.

i do drink to get tipsy sometimes, only when there’s social interactions involved and i need to let loose a little since im a bit of an introvert. But i think you need some experience to know what your limits are and how much you can drink.

i do have a lot of tips if you’re interested hhaha
I’m a very obsessive person by nature so i can see myself  becoming addicted to things easily
im either 0 or 100 👌
Well if thats the case then you should start by thinking a lot about it. I dont think trying new unfamiliar things are to any particular help but i dont think staying away from it is either. You have to practice self control and if you think youre prone to different types of addiction then i think its good to talk to a therapist about it. Maybe they would advise you to stay away from alcohol or other things or maybe encourage you to try it just to help with self control?

this is what im trying to get at. You dont need to get drunk, you dont need to drink regularly or at all, i dont think you should open the alcohol you have on hand with the intention of getting drunk if thats not something youre interested in (and if you are, u should probably not do it alone). What im saying is that getting over the mindset that there is some sort of prestige in never having had a sip, is a good thing, because it allows you to join in on the conversations and whatnot. Like not in the sense that you need to drink alcohol with other people, but if someone asks if you want a beer u can say you dont like the taste, or if someone orders a drink and talks about the flavour you can have a sip to taste because you no longer have that mental wall up.

im not really trying to argue that you should start drinking.

its just a life decision, its only deservant of any sort of pride if you as you say struggle with self control i suppose but i think its iffy to value that specifically in the act of drinking as opposed to in the self control because it rly just makes it sound like u think higher of people who havent ever tried alcohol

in fact, drinking and not becoming addicted shows equal and/or more self control in my opinion. It always easy to deny urself something that isnt part of your life to begin with imo

The reason i want to try drinking is to get a little tipsy/feel different. I wouldnt want a sip just for the taste (then i could just try something new that isn’t alcohol)
