yup, the guy who nailed his resolutions/theses on the church wall because he was not happy with how the catholics were interpreting the bible
(which is about the whole extend of what I remember)
he was also a big old racist and antisemitic and pretty misogynistic but yeah, he wanted a more benevolent god because catholic good is pretty cruel. Also no more sexy statues or pictures of saints in churches.
I mean ... he still was very much a fan for the original text, he just had a few things he thought were silly and shouldn't work
like I think his biggest issue was that the Catholic church uses faith to make poor people pay and enrich themselves whilst others suffer and then have the gull to be like "well you gave your all to our gods, but you did one thing differently and now all your good deeds don't matter anymore, go get burried outside of the town line"
like the whole thing with the Ablassbriefe
he thought it stupid that you could buy yourself free from your sins (which honestly, one of the most batshit things the Catholic church has started to gain even more riches, like this is stealing deluxe)
but after all, he was a man of his times and his times were pretty much not fun for anyone who wasn't like he was (to be fair, this is still true today, but I guess back then less people dared question it publicly since the safety of the internet didn't exist yet)

I stumbled on this, i don´t know how accurate is it but its just as you say.

I know that Jehova was paying the ten they earned to the church. I don´t know how it´s today.

don't know that video in particular, but considering the source it should be mostly correct according to what is believed to be historically true (there's a bunch of movies like fiction movies about it and they all are like the typical biopics very ... favourable of him in total as in oh he's the best thing that could have happened to religion in Germany)

Religion is a sensitive subject depending with whom you talk to. Some people reads the Bible as the only truth and some just use it for comfort. And when different believers clashes it gets ugly. And then we have them that only pick out the good stuff from the Bible and use it as they please and ignore the rest that don´t fit their agenda. I wonder how much that got lost over the years and how much that is miss translated over time. From the start it was stories that was told and then they got written down.

Tramp stamp and broken fish stockings for the skanky.
Drool and falling and tumbling for the drunk. I forgot the messy makeup on the face.

I mean, the whole concept of religious beliefs as such is an interesting discussion and has different definitions for people
but the very interesting part is how most people who use religion to justify an agenda often don't actually believe in it but rather fall bac on it as a means of "this is tradition and I now misuse its power for the sae of being right"
but certainly, the question about what is truth, what is emebllishment and what is straight up folklore is an interesting and hotly debated one. especially considering the way the bible is structured with the new testament basically being the diaries of a few dudes compared to the fable storybook the old testament was (though y bible knowledge stops at me having read the children's bible three times and thinking that at least the old testament was a little bit fun with stuff happening and the new one just being various versions of jesus fanfic)

It would be fun to ask the god themselves what they think of their books and how it´s accurate and so on. Religion has killed a lot of people because they don´t share the same faith. I wonder how the gods feel about that. The children's bible is just a fairy-tale if you use the real one. I have started to read the bible so many times but after a few chapters i cant read it. So i put it down and then it starts again. I wonder how a holy text would look if it was written today.
