i think overall she should change the cover if she truly intended to create satire against misogynistic men , but i'm not sure that was her intention tbh
i dont blame women for being sexualized, as ive seen some people blame her for "contributing" to the objectification that women suffer (which to me screams victim blaming), but i also don't like how we are suddenly accepting anything as empowering as long as you say its empowering

maybe, again, im not critically thinking right now and my opinion could just be trashy but i think we should be more mindful on the years that we're living
i don't think she actually cares about being satirical

i think in reality she just wants to perform in a way she believes is sexy to her, she wants to sexualize herself for the sake of it. and i won't shame her for being into this kind of thing because eh i don't think it's fair to tell people not to have certain preferences even if they're not empowering to oneself.

i think it's gross to try and pass it off as a critique of men. i think i'd be okay with this if people understood that none of this is in any way challenging misogyny or something, but in a way feeding into it instead

theres an interesting balance here between like. absolutely women should be allowed to do whatever they want with their bodies and she can portray herself however she wants to, and then the actual image it gives off despite the intention

and also to make this intersectional, suddenly everyone is in an uproar about a cis white woman portraying herself this way because white women are held to a high standard and viewed through such a pure lens, but nobody says a word when black/brown/trans women portray themselves in this way. possibly because this same crowd views black/brown/trans women as lesser than cis white women/sabrina carpenter? who can never be sure

I just don’t think her music and persona is deep enough for it to hit as satire? If she just said it’s bdsm n hot id be like hell yeah own it gurl. But like how is smth that just is the thing it’s attempting to satirize satire? It’s like when people say racist joke n say it’s satire that’s still just racist joke or whatever. Like honestly idgaf if she wanted it as an album cover it’s not different from 98% of hypersexualized media objectification of women, but I wouldn’t call it satire

i suppose it is achieving smth tho if it’s making people talk aboutut

yeah i think as long as this isnt getting passed off as like. the next tier of powerful feminism and actually its so big brained and powerful... its okay to just be fun for her? i think?

at the end of the day her whole concept as of late is a pinterest moodboard of like. cheeky vintage nostalgia brigitte bardot instagram tumblr vibes etc etc, and its not like this is unheard of imagery for the era she is paying homage to

not to go against also what cashmere and miguel were saying bc like, yeah in a critical vacuum where we're inspecting her actions she definitely isn't starting a new wave of feminism with this one

but at EOD why are we inspecting these actions and what is it accomplishing? why her now other than her being in the spotlight currently? what are the factors at play here

i forgot to mention that the reason why i think it's gross foreal is how often she's referenced lolita and she's so clearly leaning into that whole aesthetic.. i feel like there's also a noticeable difference between what sabrina is doing and what has been popularized as uwuw lana del rey lolita coquette..

i don't condone the lana lolita aesthetic either, but sabrina's version makes it feel like lolita was a willing participant and not a victim of humbert, while i feel like lana's always has that bleak undertone to it that sticks to the true nature of the story. i'm terrible at explaining but i hope u guys understand what i'm trying to say lol

someone said she's humbert atp  like honestly
