yes and low income is a
I believe it should be considered as a classist slur, yes

yup

I feel like it's the american version of people in Germany saying Hartzer (people who get Hartz IV, a form of financial aid from the state and there are a few who managed to get this word synonymous to people who don't like to work, watch TV the whole day, get day-drunk on cheap beer and whine about the state ruining their lives by not giving them more money, because they can't live the lifestyle they want to with the money they get - it is deaper than hat, but as a general idea)

to be fair, I mostly thought it was more of a "backwards living person, not necessarily working, but definitely low income if so" type of person?
but then again, the only times I get across the term redneck is if someone tries to prove a point about some gun-nut or overly religious or incest-fanatic oh, also moonshine. but maybe that's just the extreme version of it you can find in memes?

yeah like just by associating those two groups with eachother youre just making one group (people who recieve money because theyre physcially or mentally uncapable of working) into a joke

easy tip on recognizing and differentiating slurs from derogatory terms: no one writes redneck as "r*dneck" or "r-slur"

just sayin there's a difference

by calling lazy people a term that is meant to be used for people recieving money from the government youre just further mocking the people who recieve money from the government by insinuating that theyre lazy, the same way i feel like people use the idea of being a farmer by using it on racist people

being a working class person and being racist do not go hand in hand but a lot of people in america probably associates the two words

I struggle with the sentence structure to be completely frank :d

did you mean to say that these terms are there to joke about people who potentially might not be at fault for their situation? because then yes, kind of. it's a bit different in Germany I feel?
(because to add to that, there is a whole bunch of people here who get that kind of money because they don't want to work. Like there are a few rules for getting the money, but it is a system easy to exploit.)

also, for the racism in social class
I don't know how it is on other countries, but in Luxembourg, most working class people actually are more prone to the socialist parties and it's more older and wealthier people that feel drawn to the conservative parties with the racist and xenophobic subnotes. Like, of course, racism isn't exclusive to political stances, but as an orientation help. These being oversimplified examples though.

so a slur is only a slur if it's a taboo word?
because that's the whole reason for censoring words
