exactly my thougt
though to be completely honest, I think at some point it would be best to just erase all the terms and roll with "you're you and I am me and we both do whatever shit we fancy, as long as it hurts no one" and don't need the labels anymore. I mean, we're not ham in the meat counter that needs to be labelled for someone to pick us, we can just do our own thing without having to justify our feelings
like i agree on like an utopian level in a way
but at things r now it think a lot of young ppl find reassurance in finding themselves in terms and finding out that the're not the only ones to feel that way.
but ofc i really wish this can be the case.. but i think a lot of things needs to change before that's even possible for everyone.
i myself tend to use more general terms for myself tho
i love the norwegian term skeiv
I know that it's utopian
but to be fair, if we would allow people to just be themselves, young people wouldn't need to find something to identify with
because even now, I feel like it just causes more segregation when we make these solid camps and you have to identify with one of them
like, it's good for awareness, but in the long run, it won't help reduce the issues we already and still have
it
's just so damn difficult, because progress on the grand scheme takes soooo fucking long
like, I usually just use the term asexual to define what I think fits best to me, because I learned that it stops people from trying to get too much into it, because they still somehow think that it's important and something they need to know about my life. But I'd just much rather be "Carmen" and that's it and don't need to worry about fitting into a group. Because the group thing can be bad too. Like maybe you want to try yourself out or you change and discouver new things over time. (Stupid example, but last year I discovered I like broccoli after years of thinking it was the vilest vegetable out there. When it comes to sexuality, most people act like it's something locked in that you can't change your perception of afterwards - though in most cases you might just have made an uninformed decision in the first place)
ahhhh, it's such a difficult topic overall
yes, wouldn't that be something
