It is weird to me. I've never liked conforming, always dressed "weird".
thats ok too, some people find comfort in not conforming, thats why a lot of different subcultures exist 
i also think its more prominent in younger people who are still figuring out their identities, and many people grow out of trends not only because the trend has passed but also as a result of mental development
My intend wasn't to shame people who follow/participate in trends either, as long as they're enjoying it - I literally couldn't care less, I'm just curious about what drives a person to care as much as some people do.

It is true, also people hated y2k fashion like... 5 years ago and nowadays it's trending, I am telling u people will start dressing like 2011-2013 and will act as if it was always loved lmao. I am gonna pass on that era goodbye, even the y2k era besides like very niche parts of it, but like the whole Paris Hilton thing.. blegh

I mean, some people have definitely liked them "forever", but some might've just jumped on the bandwagon, and both are completely fine.

I've always loved mullets, mostly bc I'm in love with the 80-90's style.
