idk I have been having a lot of very complex thoughts on this topic specifically lately, challenging myself to stop seeing things I've always wanted (commune life, homesteading, etc) with rose colored glasses and acknowledge it for the escapism it is.

i like the idea of living and interacting with women as much as possible and i dont acc need to justify that. i could as i have many thoughts too but it would take forever. one i would like to share is its so ridiculous how anything women do for themselves in response to a world built for men is always seen as selfish in some way shape or form. not a fan of u comparing a tiny shred of true autonomy some women have to individualism when they most likely went through heinous things themselves to come to that conclusion so idk how it equates to leaving anyone behind and idk how u can deduce feminist efforts from where a woman lives and who with. also interesting u describe it as escapism, yh maybe so but then wheres the critique on the ultimately regressive escapist nature of liberal feminism so many young girls and women are getting sucked into as we speak? dunno its just so bloody strange to me all the mental gymnastics ppl do to essentially say female solidarity in a small setting = bad... like... HOW. also why do u assume women cant live their chosen lifestyle and intellectually dissect culture at the same time jw

I am not arguing or trying to be right, this is not a hill I'm gonna die on - I just actually like having discussions and allowing my thoughts to evolve but I forgot how sites like this get.

to walk away from a broken society, leaving those not able to do the same behind, does not align with my values.

also I am not entirely sure why you're hung up on the women thing I've already cleared that up and moved on

however I bet we are picturing communes differently
where I live, like, all communes are folks removing themselves from society as much as they possibly can - they're all farm-and-forage type communes out in the middle of nowhere.

I'm all about finding your people and cultivating a support network that you feel safe with, but it's important not to exist in an echo chamber, too. We can't just walk away and isolate ourselves from everything we don't like rather than learning how to genuinely deal with people.

as someone active in academia circles yeah there are plentyyyyy of disapirities between women but half of them are cultivated by patriarchy and the other half is just normal human conflict but you arent making any real argument against a female only commune... like the point of it isnt to achieve world peace and enlightenment its to ..... spare themselves from unnecessary negative experiences with males. bit confused on why ur so adamant to reaffirm women can be shit too when i didnt state otherwise & i would assume the women living together had u kno met beforehand and maybe even know eachother well. i wouldnt willingly move in with anyone im likely to clash with

I mean less and less of that happens when you get older, or at least, as you get older you have more autonomy to remove yourself from the types of folks who are catty and discriminatory.
If you're approaching 30 and still find the women in your social circles behaving like that, it's time to reflect on yourself.

Yes it could mby work if it was like 5 girls n they were all ur friends from before but thats more like just yeah, friends, roommates, whatever, wouldn't call it a commune.
