thoughts on kids on leashes

honestly depends
like im sure SOME parents have some sort of valid reasoning for it but eeeeh . most of em dont

like keeping a kid from running into the street? sure
making sure your kid doesnt run off in a crowded place? better

i cant think of any other justifiable reason for that to be A Thing

most people shouldn't have kids anyways so it's good to know which ones should've gotten a dog instead

i don't really care tbh, it's weird for sure but there are much worse parents around (and a lot of them) so i think it's silly to make leash parents out to be like, next from the devil

Feels like the type of parents who put their kids on leaches for no reason are the type of dog owners who doesn’t keep their dog on a leach lol

Why not give small kids bracelets with their guardians telephone number instead if they wanna be cautious

No but imo the child should be allowed to do stuff without being bound to the parent, however the parent ofc needs to look over the kid to make sure they aren’t getting themselves in danger

if you’re too busy for that idk…

i used to tie my sister to her chair to make her stop running around the dining table when she was a kid
some kids need to be sat the hell doooown

i think all of these things comes from new age parenting of never saying no to your kids
if me and my sister would run amok in the streets or refuse to stay put/tell where we were going, my mom would lean in, all silent and that would be enough to scare the shit outta us ....

parents are humans too. if you have to walk in crowd with your toddler for example, i honestly can't judge if you use leash. or then your other option is just walk hand in hand, or carrying your child. you can't lose your attention even for a second and that's honestly just too much to ask from anyone. some kids are more lively than others, so of course there's kids that wouldn't run away, but there's also kids who are trying actively run away from their parents every change they get

especially on public transport, yeah, then kids def needs to be leashed down.
like 2 weeks ago this little girl would continue to walk up and down the bus and talk to the driver, press buttons and talk to the other ppl on the bus meanwhile her mom desperately tried to get her to sit down but had her hands full w a tiny baby.
the girl then had a massive tantrum and started to kick, scream at and punch her mom ... like i'm sry, but leashed

yeah some areas are busier than others, it probably has to be looked on by individual cases but generally holding a kid's hands make more sense to me, could be cultural bias, could be functionality

i feel like if the leash is too long it's gonna block other ppl in where they walk and if it's too short it's gonna choke them or smth
