Say you see a fat person walking somewhere and your very first thought is ”ew theyre fat” but then you think to yourself that ”hey thats not nice theres nothing wrong with being fat you should check in with yourself” but the whole filter with alzheimers doesnt work so they just say the first instinctive thing that pops up in their mind without even realizing it being insulting. Also emotions like anger, fear and anxiety usually take over as the hippocampus and amygdala stop working properly. So its not like something they can rly control

Yeah I guess it’s what makes it such a complex issue but also why ur totally valid in being hurt by it! Like there are people who are shit at filtering without Alzheimer’s too but no one would bat an eye if you found that hurtful most of the time even if they were like oops sorry I didn’t mean that after (like my moms awful at filtering, and also me tbh)
