I chose to look at the cases that was actually following the vowel harmony rules rather than be like ah yes ... loan words and exceptions. One of the exceptions are compounds I think? It makes sense, but then it's like vowel harmony is limited to the smallest lexeme, with derivational and inflectional morphemes following those rules, in general (possibly with exceptions)

im enjoying following the vowel harmony conversation lol

i used to pronounce the name of the estonian city Pärnu really weirdly cos it hadn't yet registered in my extremely finnish brain that while estonian and finnish are very related, estonian very much does not have vowel harmony
