i actually have an interesting story about reading the perks of being a wallflower. when i read it i was very young, so i didn't really understand the twist in the book (which is, that his beloved aunt had actually been sexually molesting him as a kid) and it just didn't click for me. but watching it later really hit hard bc i was finally able to understand all the implications

yeah oof, i know it's such an overquoted thing (like i saw it everywhere on tumblr) but i still appreciate it. i really identified with charlie bc we were both very introverted and i genuinely agreed with his world view on a lot of things. one of the few protagonists i can saw i truly truly felt
