Cancel culture is becoming a moral panic and highly mythologized at this point. It's funny to me people point out poor rich privileged bigots being cancelled. I mean, is Donald Trump really cancelled just because he violated the rules of private companies? Nah. He still has backers.

What people are calling cancel culture imo is companies becoming more inclusive or people standing up to people abusing their power. None of these "cancel culture" critics seem to care about how working class socialists have historically been shut down by employers or the government. Look up the history of the wobblies, I'd say those were underprivileged people who actually were overthrown by the powerful. 

I dont give two fucks about bigots or rich people because they actively try to deny the rights of those less powerful than them, but no one cares about that.

This is a great article and I agree. 

Notice when people mention cancel culture, they concentrate on bigots, the rich and famous, or multi-billion corporations being held accountable. It's never about those who lack social status and power. 

Idk how unpopular this view is because I'm too scared to voice it usually but you're not alone in this view
