it's a really nuanced story though like a year before this happened his wife tried to kill me and my siblings with a knife because she didn't want us in their house (and then proceeded to cut into herself because our dad shoved us into a room so she couldn't get to us) and like a month before that my dad, a licensed hunter, had to sell all his guns because the wife tried to shoot him so like.. i dunno my dad was a really kind hearted man so at least i'd like to think it was self defense even though ... it prolly wasn't lol
