more like-minded people = more based community
you can find a community for anything online but i want to see more action in the real world. i'm tired of being surrounded by selfish lunatics in my area
more like-minded people = an echo chamber
you don't need people to agree with you, you need people to listen to you, and in turn you should listen to them. only then can you start fostering a community.
it's easy to point at others and say that they're the problem. have you done your part?
you don't understand.
imagine you live in an area with lots of farmers. these farmers will continue to support ideas that goes against their well-being. they will vote for political parties that are making their lives difficult by destroying their crops, stealing their land, making sure they can barely survive by taking all their earnings just because they are farmers. these farmers do not understand that they are just hurting themselves no matter what you do.
that's why it's so frustrating to be surrounded by these type of people. they have no idea of anything works.
Why wouldn't I understnad? I don't have to imagine that, I've lived through that. I don't like going back there because it's a lost cause.
