while we're sitting in different degrees of darkness, here's a moment to aknowledge that earth hour is symbolic event to mainly bring attention to westner sustainability issues: resource usage, pollution, and nature conservation. These are all wonderful and great as they are real issues here and elsewhere, but let's also give a thought to countries where resource usage have to expand to create developement and rise living standards, where nature conservation prohibits local population from using their resouces. What are some of our solutions here, are not the same solutions needed or wanted somewhere else in the world, and yet we are entwined : )
