also the frames r always wildly expensive it's kinda incredible to have to pay 300€ for just the frames alone

last time i got them covered fully (by a gov facility) but the frames had to be from a specific selection n all of them were under 80€ lol at least they had some decent ones, all i paid for was bluelight protection
I chose the cheap brand store last time and the glossy finnish started to peel of like a year ago
Oh god, sounds like me wearing supermarked glasses and the screw fell out LMAO

My sweetheart of a mom, payed my new glasses from an optical, bless her heart.
screws are no problem bc my family invested in those tiny screwdrivers because all of us are nearsighted and the screws loosen after a while.

I only have those from 3 years ago and it's hard to get an appointment for the eye doctor : /
yeah, okay, in that case you'll need to see one probably
though a lot of those measurements and tests you can get done at an optrician?
also, sometimes the doctors can write something so insurance covers a bit more for new frames if it's a big jump despite the legal restrictions of only new frames every 10 years
yeah but isn't it weird to get those measures and then buy online?

I really hope it's not worse than 0.5 and even then I think insurance only covers like 10€ per glass
not really
you have to play your hand right
get the tests, let them show you the options, be frank about it being a bit difficult financially speaking, so they can already show you the cheap models so you have a frame of reference, get your measurements and all (then check online)
they know you'll do it and sometimes have special offers that can make it cheaper when buying in store (like 2 year warranty and such)

I paid for fielman insurance last time and they didn't wanna pay bc it's normal that the finish starts peeling after 2 years???

It was only 10€ per year but still.

Idk it's just frustrating bc I need glasses to participate in daily life and I could seriously hurt if I don't wear them.

yeah, like I said, the finish peeling off after 2 years is very much normal and not covered in the insurance
bit shitty, but they are a business trying to make money, so of course that's how it goes

also, you said the glasses are badly scratched
I've had glasses for 4 years (like the same lenses) at the most longest and never had scratches in them
and that was the year where I was playing basketball and got a ball to the face like at least once a month (I had to get the frames fixed so many times)
but the lenses were always fine

are you careful about not dropping them, always putting them on an elevated surface and not putting stuff on top, keeping them in a case when you're not wearing them and can't have them protected, don't dry rub them with any cloth (except microfibre) and only wet rub them with microfibre or soft tissues (no cotton or wool). Also, remove when in the shower if possible
like I don't want to come off as the glasses police, but it shouldn't be that easy to scratch the glasses in general (even cheap ones)

Idk sounds like bad quality for me. I had Ray Bans back when my parents paid my glasses and never had problems with that kind of stuff.

at this point ive begun voluntarily wearing my glasses at home after years of being like noo glasses ugly!! it makes my life easier, bad when i take them off cus i feel my eyes shaking for a moment   i dont wear them outside only at school and when i use my pc yes, maybe one day ill start wearing them all the time
Oh i did the same, i only wore glasses in class.. and i still have a hard time adjusting to wearing glasses. But i really do need em, because otherwise i can't see signs and peoples faces and in a weird way that fucks with me.
i legit cant talk to ppl without my glasses on sometimes, ruins the whole experience, almost like my brain makes me believe i can hear and understand what's happening better if i can see it clearly smh.. i really will end up being a glasses wearer 24/7 <\3
I mean seeing peoples expressions as you are talking to them, is really nice and idk important personally.

years ago though
they have a different film technique now
like I have expensive glasses and even I got told the film would wear off within two years
they use anew technique that makes it way cheaper for the film to be on, but also less durable

I can't really be careful with them because I wear them 24/7 or I can't navigate .
They are not real glass but the plastic kind so they are lighter and don't hurt, maybe that's the reason why.
I also have pretty long lashes and sometimes they touch the glasses.

you're speaking to someone who's wearing glasses since she's 8, I know the struggle
I mean, I have so bad myopia, I even need my glasses to read
also my lashes touch the glass too, but they don't scratch it

(also, I also have the light weight plexiglass ones, they don't make real glass glasses anymore for halfdecent affordable prices)
