yeah i think that's also a lot of the appeal..... i know i am obviously a fucking Freak but i think a lot of the time whenever i liked really toxic ships i didn't feel as committed as everyone else to really get off on all the abusive aspects of it  like yeah sadly to me part of it was appealing but when it goes too far.. 

the best example i can think of is how gorillaz fans love the plastic beach era aka when murdoc kept 2d captive at the bottom of an island made of plastic trash. and kind of tortured him essentially.... they love to talk about all the bad shit that happened in it and well i can't pretend it did not happen but personally i engage with gorillaz like how i engage with severus snape: more headcanons than canon material in my mind...

so yes my point was i don't like romanticizing plastic beach like most people do.. i'm sure it's more nuanced than i think but i guess i just don't have the braincells to understand it like that

best 2doc is modern 2doc where murdoc started to become a pathetic self pitying moper like "omg u guys don't even love me anymore 💔" (he was absolutely horrendous to the band for decades) so 2d is like "awwwwww okayy"

i kind of agree... i liked their 2020 phase because it gave me all the headcanon material i needed! but yeah ofc the characters were done really dirty  ... they're apparently coming back this year . i have no mercy if this album is ass i'm feeding damon to the dogs
