resetting does not necessarily help with the "issues" you might have
it sure means though that you have to restart on everything you started collecting so far, if you don't keep it at a friend's for safekeeping
some things you dislike can be changed by completely redoing (as in hello crappy island terraforming) your island and you can work on removing the villagers you don't like to exchange them for ones you like (which will need a bunch of NMT which you won't have easy access to if you restart again)

it feels like my island is very rushed? haha. i haven't time travelled but it feels like i'm just exhausted by the game seeing the same things again and like, waiting for the next update/month all the time because there's "nothing" to do.

+ crappy terraforming because i had no idea what i was doing in the beginning.

in that case mýou might just want to try remodelling before you start over completely? I had the same issue with my island and workes on it hardcore for about a week, then had a pause for two days and now I'm at it again to cmplete the rest of my island. And it really makes me happier with it, because it truly feels like I have a completely new island and the flower palette I set myself to means I actually have to work towards something

i did safekeepings my fave items and clothing on my brother’s island aha

i’m much happier with this layout so I’m just spreading everything out until I’ve unlocked terraforming and can start moving stuff

it sure will take long, but the thing is, getting a new island will not make you more happy with the basic layout the new island provides you. the natural feeling of your island can easily be preserved or restored by working kind of haphazardly
there are a few guides on youtube on how you can achieve a natural look even with 100% terraforming
I tried that on my forresty campsite and I think I did a good job with it?
