you basically have to redo all of the levels that are listed until you get the item(s) from the event set 
then you can evolve them + customize

I think that's princess levels cause on maiden it can be more than just every third try, can go up to even 1 every 5th or 6th try. Or at least that is what I've noticed while trying to get the necessary items for evolving same twice + crafting

Yeah, on Maiden it took me more tries.
But it's only fair as you get unlimited attempts, even though it eats up stamina

Got the three pieces for both sets actually and I'm close to getting the two crafting pieces for the first set. But I doubt that I'll be able to get both sets complete ;;;;;;
