It's not like you don't need to be smart to create systems for you to get food or water that you could drink.
Kindness means "the quality of being friendly, generous and considerate." So, the lack of it would just mean that you're not friendly, generous or considerate, which affects interpersonal relationships only. But anyone would make you a house or whatever you need if you give them money, so
