The biggest parties - national day, baptisms, yule, weddings, confirmations, birthdays or gatherings where it is the dresscode.

What u r gonna do is itch, have sore feet, carry the weight of the dress pieces, and hope you don't spill on it. Be too cold or too warm depending on the weather. Walk slowly home. Then be hsppy it is off. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanking the lordt I’m American
because I could never wear it to a wedding
dress code or not
I probably wouldn't either. I only wear it on 17th of May*, and at my confirmation. *Not that I have worn it these last years because there's something wrong with my stuff so I don't like it, and I haven't had the patience to go fix it yet.

actually last thoughts, yes ofc you can wear it. if you thought my local one was nice and wanted to wear it id totslly lend you mine, it's just a big compliment to anyone who hasnt bonked their head.
but i do think if youre getting one for yourself you should know why youre getting that particularly one, cuz it is an identity thing and a whole language in itself. because it's pretty doesnt cut it. different colours may have different meanings, different brooches, bets and accessories are worn in different stages of life and so on.
also regional pride is a big thing, i think cities may be more chill except bergen probably, but a lot of bygdafolk/uhm village people are very much not. as a bygdafolk im guilty of this myself tbh ill be deadass offended if ppl assume im from the closet city or even a nearby village, even if its stupid and i like the closest city. not the closest village tho ew. like if some local moved to the city and came back years later and had started to knote/changing their dialect.. bruh. i fear for your safety. physically no harm will be done to you but your neighbours sisters aunt will be ugly talking you with her cat mom friends over coffee and lefser in years to come. but short answer yes, yes you can wear it, and no it's not appropriation lol.

Honestly I never understood cultural appropriation, I remember I used to have heated arguments on this site when I was a teenager.
Why would you be offended by someone promoting your culture, no matter where they're from? If someone wore an Albanian xhublete or a xhublete inspired costume, I would be honored. Even if they wore it as a Halloween costume or to a costume party -- as long as they acknowledge it came from Albania, what's the issue?

idk why you'd spend that much money on it if you have 0% ties to norway, but you do you
as long as its not to make fun of or to use as a costume, like others have already mentioned

kinda unrelated but also related, my mother inherited a beltestakk and im so jealous

anyways serious answer that no one asked for, this is a dress up game anything available you may wear imo go wild

irl it's more complicate d even within norway with regional variations n stuff, you should only use those from regions you have a connection to, either as in you live there, grew up there, or have family from there n so on.
it's not really about whether you're norwegian or not and i will fight anyone who disagrees, it's whether you have a strong connection to the region the bunad is from or not.
On games it's fine as long as you still respect the cultural clothing, like wearing it properly and respecting the rules that come with certain cultural clothing

And when it comes to black hairstyles, only black people can wear those. I know it's just a game but in other dress up games I've seen black players ask white players not to use black hairstyles on a white character. (Lightskins are a different story, they're still black) and with hijabs, no skin other than the face (in some cases) and no hair can be shown

sure there are decent and indecent ways of wearing things, but idk vp is fantasy land, you can combine a pixel Imitation of a bunad jacket with a skull mask and bird feet for all i care, it's not real
