I think people gave up before I became active in 2018, because imo there hasn't been much change in the general discourse after I "joined". I can't comment on what is the case prior to July 2018 as I wasn't here. 

yeah tbh i don't completely remember how it was before then, but i think before the whole shit show with the two kims and whatnot i feel like a lot more of the drama was centered around the community being assholes towards each other but i'm not sure
 he also has always been very unresponsive - it made being a mod and ET member more difficult than it needed to be. and also he was very defensive to criticism given before - it isn't just because he became disliked, that's just how he is/was as a person. so ofc you have people getting angry at them, they've got pent up grievances that fall on deaf ears after they put so much care into roles they played on the site (or even just contributing as a regular community member). 

the site outlook used to be way more optimistic when it was a lil baby, we used to pitch ideas and actually thought shit would happen. we had a communicative admin on this server until they left/quit/were fired (the circumstances were very odd lol). OG VP users went from a communicative and active admin to... well, what we got now. 

but you get let down again n again and wonder why you even bothered. 
then the camel ball incident happened around 2016. mods resigned over it and everything, huge community outrage on the dutch and english servers. every1 in the forums was talking about what site we would move to (obviously didnt happen). people were banned for discussing it (particularly on the dutch server, since kaj was more active there). kaj has been heavily bashed since. 



I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED WITH THIS BANNED PERSON . THESE ARE ALL FROM MY PAST EXPERIENCES FROM WHEN I WAS ACTIVE.
