If being a lesbian or a gay man was an spectrum, we would be called bisexuals. But we're not, we're homosexuals

Being a lesbian or being gay isn't a spectrum. You either are exclusively attracted to your same sex, or you're not
that may be ur definition, but sexuality is much more fluid than those strictly defined categories

if those categories work for u, great ! use em ! but policing other people on the language they use to best describe their own identity is perhaps not only unnecessary but counterproductive
i guess the spectrum would be bisexuality then.. if ur 10% attracted to men but 90% attracted to women ur still bi (allegedly dont quote me on dis im stupid)
It's not stupid, it's an accurate reply

It's the literal definition of lesbian and gay (referring to men)
Trying to redefine terms that are so important to gay men and lesbians is harmful
sure but like. telling a gay person (alam) that they aren't gay because of your narrow definition of what it is to be gay is uhhhhh...... also harmful in a much more immediate and concrete way

anyway dictionaries are written by people, and most queer scholars agree that sexuality is much more fluid and dynamic than the restrictive words we use to describe it. your definition is not the only definition

My narrow definition? For saying that gay men forever has meant a man attracted exclusively to other men? Come on

A gay man used to mean a happy man, what's your point? Language changes, it evolves.

Dude, we're talking about sexuality. The term is now used only for men exclusively attracted to men. If you want to call it homosexual man, then let's call them homosexual men. My point is that you can not just redefine the term as you'd like just because you don't feel comfortable for being bisexual

Like, I'm sorry you don't like the term bisexual. But you can't just appropiate the term. Embrace your sexual orientation

sorry that was harsh but like. you really are not at all educated on the history of the community you are claiming to represent and speak for. learn where homosexuality comes from and how it is culturally and historically specific. learn that the dictionary definitions of words are written by those in power and that words and terms are used in different contexts by different people ! concepts of sexuality and gender are culturally contingent and being prescriptive by insisting on your own definition or concept is just like. rude

i would never claim to speak for you, or to say you are anything other than a lesbian, as you say. i believe you know a lot abt  homosexuality because of ur lived experience. however i do not see u extending this same understanding to others. your lived experience as a lesbian does not allow u to dictate or invalidate the lived experiences and personal identities of other gay people

I don't feel uncomfortable being bi, I just don't find the label accurate, it's not your prerogative to police the way I identify myself.

I'm literally just saying that if you like both sexes, you're bisexual. I don't care if you only want to date one sex or the other, but as long as you're someone who feels attracted to both sexes, you're bisexual. And that's it, I'm not telling others how to live. I'm saying facts.
I'm a lesbian because I'm exclusively attracted to females. If I liked men, i'd be bisexual. It's not that hard

tbh im not bi either but i could be romantically w a woman yet i just. am straight,,,,,,, so mayb it is more fluid but if we're getting technical here i am technically bisexual (technically allegedly) (not realy i dont want to shag a woman only romance)
